Evidence-Based Approaches for Child and Adolescent Mental Health

We are pleased to announce another in the world’s leading interdisciplinary conferences on state-of-the-art, evidence-based prevention and treatments for mental health and educational problems in children and adolescents. Didactic lectures and hands-on experience will be combined to teach interested professionals the basic principles of effective psychosocial, psychoeducational, pharmacological, and combined interventions, including clinic-based treatments, school-wide interventions, and parent training.

*A total of 18 continuing education credit/contact hours can be earned! Continuing education can be earned by those in the following professions: psychologists, licensed mental health counselors, licensed clinical social workers, licensed marriage and family therapists, school psychologists, nurses, dieticians, nutritionists, and nutrition counselors.

Below is a list of our current approvals:

•APA: The CCF has been approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists.  The CCF maintains responsibility for the program. 

•NBCC: The FIU Counselor Education Program is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP™) and a co-sponsor of the Center for Children and Families’ presentations. The FIU Counselor Education program may award NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP™ solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. Provider #4565, effective 9/1/11.

•NASP: The Center for Children and Families is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists to offer professional development for school psychologists. The Center for Children and Families maintains responsibility for the program.

• NASW: This program is Approved by the National Association of Social Workers (Approval #886608594-1484) for up to 18 Social Work continuing education contact hours.

•The conference has also been approved by Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling; Florida Board of Psychology and Florida Office of School Psychology.  Provider #BAP 50-12872.


IMPORTANT NOTE: The Seventh Biennial “Niagara in Miami” Conference site (http://niagarainmiami2013.eventbrite.com) will be open for online registration on November 16, 2012. You will see the registration options under “Current Events.” In addition to preferred rates at the Solé on the Ocean Hotel in North Miami Beach and the Hampton Inn Hallandale Beach-Aventura, complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be provided at the conference.
