What is the STP: The Summer Treatment Program is is a unique opportunity for your child or adolescent.
Children entering grades K-5
will spend the day playing sports and engaging in recreational
activities with other children their age. They will also participate in social skills training, and spend 2 hours per day in a
classroom setting working on academics and behaviors conducive to
academic success. Each group will consist of up to 15 children and 4
staff members.
Adolescents entering grades 6-11
will spend their mornings in a secondary school setting, building
academic and organization/time management skills. In the afternoon, they
will participate in recreational and problem-solving activities
designed to build social and leadership skills. Adolescents also serve
as paid junior counselors in our program. All groups participate in
special activities on Fridays.
Who is Eligible: The program is open to children and adolescents entering grades K-11 with academic or behavioral problems. All families currently in a study at the CCF are encouraged to attend.
When: The program will run from June 17, 2013 – August 9, 2013. The camp day is from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Where: The program will be held at FIU’s University Park Campus (South Campus).
Cost: The total cost of the program is TBD. Once your child’s application is reviewed and your child is accepted to the program, a 25% nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your child's space. The remainder of the tuition is due on or before June 1st, 2013.
